Inner City Pool Renovation - Birchgrove Job
This inner city client approached us to revamp their existing backyard as well as a complete refurbishment of their pool. This design sought to improve the aesthetics of their backyard by expanding the decking area towards the back of the house and to create a new level for seating in order to create new entertaining areas perfect for intimate drinks on a summers evening or for sunbaking on a hot summers day.
The job had a bit of a design and construct process and as such we had the opportunity to change the concept as we went. We stuck with the merbau for the retaining wall cladding and used this as an opportunity to combine the retaining wall with the bench seating. The lighting was all marine grade stainless steel and was placed as such to light up the pool and spotlight the walkways and feature tree. The stairs are made from travertine treads to a sandstone cladding on the risers similar to the front feature wall around the window looking into the pool. As to our recommendations we tried to utilise as much natural materials as possible to create this modern Australian back yard.
